SUMMARY:SC123: Orebody Knowledge – Leveraging Cross-disciplinary Datasets
DESCRIPTION:This course is ideal for those wishing to gain in-depth and han
ds-on knowledge of how leveraging cross-disciplinary information and data
can optimize and improve the mineral resource sector.\n\nVIEW FULL 5-DAY S
CHEDULE\n\nRobust orebody knowledge is crucial to determining both the via
bility and profitability of an ore deposit. Comprehensive geological\, eng
ineering\, metallurgical\, environmental\, and economic datasets are requi
red to adequately assess mining behaviour. The integration of these data a
t numerous scales allows for the creation of predictive rock mass behaviou
 r models\, including blasting\, caving\, comminution\, liberation\, recove
ry\, and environmental behaviour. This course will focus on the key techni
cal and financial aspects of orebody knowledge and how these can be integr
ated to predict and optimize mineral processing throughout the mining valu
e chain. We will also address common barriers to successful orebody knowle
dge including discipline silos\, lack of a common vocabulary\, knowledge t
ransfer\, and data utilization. The course will be delivered over 5 days t
hrough a combination of classroom lectures\, lab demonstrations\, data col
lection and modelling examples\, real-world case studies\, and practical e
xercises. Presenters will include experts trained in a range of discipline
s working in both academia and industry with vast experience in the orebod
y knowledge space.\n\nThis course is designed for all mining and resource
industry professionals and researchers including mining engineers\, geolog
 ists\, metallurgists\, environmental scientists\, financial analysts\, min
 e managers\, and research scientists.\nCOURSE UPDATES\nThe schedule includ
es 19 presenters from industry and academia specializing in disciplines ac
ross the industry\, including geoscience\, engineering\, mineral processin
g\, environmental science\, finance\, and technology. The course is delive
red as a series of presentations\, guided discussions\, exercises\, and la
b demonstrations. Topics include fundamentals and basics\, industry standa
rds\, history\, best practices\, perspectives\, and case studies in orebod
y knowledge across:\n\n\n Geoscience: presented by Jim Lang (NorthWest Co
