Special Publication #2 – Magmatic-Hydrothermal Report
This 115 page volume presents the results of the MDRU Magmatic-Hydrothermal project (1995-1999). Research focused on three geographical areas: the Tombstone Plutonic Suite of the Yukon; central and northwestern British Columbia; Laramide (Late Cretaceous) magmatic centres and the Jurassic magmatic arc in Arizona. The Cerro Corona porphyry copper-gold deposit in northern Peru was also studied. The research pursued two broad themes:
The magmatic regime: the timing, regional setting and characteristics of specific magma suites associated with Cu and/or Au mineralization, and the specific features of intrusions and magmatic processes related to mineralization within these suites.
The hydrothermal regime: the characteristics, timing and controls of alteration; the nature and composition of mineralization and the relationship to alteration; the composition of ore-forming fluids, and processes leading to mineralization.
